The Roundhouse kick

Roundhouse kick is one of the basic kicks that is used in many martial arts styles. It is a very powerful move once your technique is perfected.

Roundhouse Kick Guard Position 1. Start in your guard position with your left leg in front. Have your feet shoulder width apart, with your toes facing the 45 degrees. This increases your balance. Have your right arm on your chin and your left arm in front of your face.
2. Chamber your leg with your foot parallel with your knee if possible. Twist on your balancing leg as the same time to ensure your hips create power.
3. Kick your leg out, pointing your toes and keeping your guard up.
Roundhouse Kick Guard Position 4. Chamber your leg back in and twist back to your starting position.

Practice this slow and build up the speed. Try kicking at different heights and hitting a pad or kick bag.
